The Benefits Committee is dedicated to promoting and improving access to resources for all graduate and professional students. Our goals are to increase awareness of current resources, determine where there are unmet needs in the community, and advocate for structural changes to meet the realities of graduate/professional life at Indiana University. We meet bi-monthly to keep up to date on the details of available resources, develop instructional material to foster accessibility, and tackle targeted projects to improve professional and living conditions. As the Benefits Committee Chair, my overarching goal for this year is to compile an ongoing database of benefits available across degree programs and establish procedures to assess community feedback on those resources. The plan is to create a centralized location with summarized descriptions where all students can determine what they have access to at a glance and provide suggestions or grievances directly to the Benefits Committee. Using feedback, the committee will research the scope of proposed issues, formulate solutions, pass resolutions, and monitor implementation on your behalf. Through mapping out current access to resources, educating others, and acting on feedback, we aim to inform and strengthen the voices of all our graduate and professional students.
