Student Visas
GPSG is deeply concerned about the revocation of student visas and the anxiety and pain that these current events have caused. This is what we know about the current situation:
- Notifications: The Office of International Services (OIS) will directly notify students if their SEVIS record has been terminated. As part of this communication, OIS will also explain the distinction between visa revocations and SEVIS terminations. Students do not need to reach out proactively about their status unless they are contacted by OIS.
- Updated Resources: OIS has added a link on its homepage to the IU Global website, which provides up-to-date information on federal visa and immigration policy changes, potential impacts, and available support services, including legal assistance.
- Case-by-Case Support: The Graduate School is working one-on-one with affected students to identify options that allow them to continue and complete their academic programs. Solutions will vary based on individual circumstances and may include reduced travel requirements and the option to complete thesis or dissertation defenses remotely.
